Last season Vota ao Porto sent Bywater CT to Top Division. This season another Volta took us back down. Which is bad, as current aims are midseason Top Division tours. We need to be back and we need to do it soon. Godfried Veldhuis is preparing form to fight for youth classification wins in Vuelta de los Castillos and Essex Tour. During this preparation, he found time to give an interview about team's plans for next days.
J(ournalist): Godfried, you are currently not in a Top Division team. What do you think about it?
GV: That's not a problem at all. Top Division racing should be avoided if possible, better money and points are in Zyte. Signing up for Salles-sur-Verdon ITT was management's mistake, it will make August Elofsson skip Mons TT, which is way better suited for him. Top Division spot is good only when a team needs to sign up for a Top Division tour. On day 33. 300 points in next 10 days is what we need and I beliewe we can do it.
J: So, what's the plan?
GV: It's simple. Race, race and race. Every day. We start on Friday to do 10 days of everyday racing. Fresh riders will be brought to the team for this purpose, this has already started with 3 young Spaniards hired today (who, additionally, know the roads of Vuelta de los Castillos very well).
J: Which races should Bywater CT fans keep their eye on?
GV: As I already said, we start with Salles-sur-Verdon ITT. A mistake, but we have no way to pull out of this race. Then Kasper Czechowski will try to see what is left in him after Volta. Days 26 and 27 are mountain races - one from Verona to Bolzano, the other around Lillehammer. Kasper gets a rest after this, and smaller climbs come. Hilling team gets split and each of the three riders has his chance - I will do Vejle Bakker on day 28, Herman Eagles heads to Australia to race from Melbourne to Canberra on day 30 and Johan Geerds will try his luck on the rouds around Kirovohrad on day 31. In the meantime August Elofsson will race against the clock: on day 29 in Holbæk and on day 33 in Casa Vattoni. Finally, after taking a good rest, Kasper Czechowski will go for another Norwegian climbing race in Asane on day 32 and Herman Eagles will visit Portugal for Tavira - Faro. This should be enough races to earn 300 points we need, so that the team can concentrate only on best possible preparations to important midseason races.
J: Good luck then, both in training and racing.
